Emma Lowney is a practical and conscientious Production Designer with experience led film making knowledge and creative talent. Emma comes from a narrative background and has immersed herself in the emotional side of storytelling,  growing in expertise and creating real and natural sets. Emma has designed  worlds from 1980’s and 90’s, medieval Sweden through cold war Berlin,  obscure cities in  the distant future and back to current day life.

Starting out as a production buyer on John Crowley’s Oscar nominated  Brooklyn, Emma has worked her way up  through every possible rank in set decoration for film, through all budget levels from PlanB’s The Lost City of Z to Fastnet Films Black 47 through to SF Studios multi award winning Margaret queen of the North. 

Emma has worked on both Irish and international projects such as H&V Entertainment GmbH & Seven Stories Spy City, set in 1961 Berlin, during the Cold War. The series first aired in Germany, and AMC+ picked up the rights to stream in the United States at MIPTV. 

Danish fantasy sequel Skammerin Datter shot in Prague 2019 and Irish co productions such as Fastnet Film’s Black 47 and Lifes a Breeze.

Emma has received an IFTA in recognition of her Production Design work on the multi award winning The Quiet Girl in 2022.
